Quarterfinals
Cyril 55 Pond Creek-Hunter 48
Dayken Backley and Jake Toathy led the way for Cyril en route to their victory over Pond Creek-Hunter. The Panthers were led by Cole Jones with 18 points in the loss. Cyril played outstanding defense and made Pond Creek-Hunter work hard for each basket. Cyril is headed to the Big House on Friday night to play Frontier 6 pm.
Rattan 61 Seiling 53
Toche Taylor Rattan 2018 Wing had a great performance scoring a game-high 28 points to lead his squad to the Big House. Seiling Wildcats standout Brevin Nyberg finished with 21 points. Nyberg had a tremendous high school career. Rattan has the making of a state championship team with the ability to knock down three-pointers, handle the basketball, and play tough defense. Rattan matches up against Fort Cobb-Broxton in the late game at 9 pm on Friday night.
Glencoe 54 Fort Cobb-Broxton 68
Fort Cobb-Broxton held off Glencoe going on a 16-0 run to finish the game. Kellen Hines was terrific for Fort Cobb-Broxton scoring 29 points. This game featured lots of runs from both teams. Glencoe was always the one playing catchup. The story of the game was the talent of 2021 Guard Tyson Eastwood for Fort Cobb-Broxton scoring 15 points including several clutch baskets down the stretch. Cale Lazenby led the way for Glencoe with 20 points in the loss. Fort Cobb-Broxton will take on Rattan at 9 pm Friday night.
Frontier 74 Southwest Covenant 66
Frontier’s Nolan Childs 2018 Forward was phenomenal scoring a game-high 29 points on the night. Southwest Covenant did everything they could behind the outstanding performance of 2020 Guard Will Haas. He finished with 23 points with 16 coming in the second half. Frontier is headed to face Cyril in the semifinals tomorrow.
Semifinals
Fort Cobb-Broxton 50 Cyril 49
Cyril junior guard Casen McLemore was electric scoring a game high 19 points. It wasn’t enough though as the Pirates lost to Fort Cobb-Broxton 50-49. The Mustangs showcased a balanced attack with 4 of the 5 starters scoring 10 or more points. Fort Cobb-Broxton is moving on to the State Championship game tomorrow against the winner of Rattan vs. Frontier.
Frontier 65 Rattan 63
Frontier sophomore Connor Norman had the game of his life to help send Frontier to the Class A State Championship game. The young guard had 18 points and both buzzer beating shots, one to send it to overtime and another to win the game. Rattan was led by Toche Taylor and Keegan Bohanan who combined to score 53 of the Rams 63 points.
Championship
Fort Cobb-Broxton 62 Frontier 50
Fort Cobb-Broxton wins their 4th State Championship in a row. The Mustangs were led by junior star Kellen Hines with 31 points. Robert Johnson also contributed 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 blocks. The Frontier offense was on and off all night and they could never really find a rhythm. Fort Cobb-Broxton capitalized on a 13-0 run in the 2nd quarter to take an 8 point lead into half. The Mustangs never looked back and were able to win handily in the end.
