NCHSAA East Region 3A & 4A Semi-Final Matchup Preview
Garner HS vs South Central HS: Between these two teams you have total of one loss and 51 wins. Garner has already avenged its one loss to Leesville Road this season with a blowout win against the squad in the previous round. This matchup has the chance to be special as there will be a very high amount of star power on the floor, South Central features: Shykeim Phillips, Dayron Sharpe, Luke Davis, Tahj Riddick which are all player that can play on the next level. Garner features some of the top unsigned senior Guards in the state in Marquee Maultsby and Trayvon Ferrell while also getting nice production from Senior Forward/Center Kenyon Burton. This should be a good one and will sell out without a doubt so you will want to be in the building for this one if possible.
Heritage vs Broughton: Heritage has put together a nice season , with a record of 23-4 they have leaned heavily on senior leadership as Jayden Gardner and Jaren McAllister have been their go to guys this year. Broughton HS has a record 26-2 and will look to the guard play of Junior Tynias Peace and DJ Thomas to help dictate the tempo and force turnovers.
Southern Lee vs Eastern Guilford: Southern Lee has come from behind in the last two rounds, showing they are a 2nd half squad. Junior Guard Phil Martin is a sharpshooting guard that faced tough defensive matchups in the last round but still found ways to impact the game. Eastern Guilford has dominated their last two opponents and will look to Senior Guard Jaylen Alston who is averaging over 25 points per game this season.
Northside-Jax vs New Hanover: It’s been two years since Northside HS has lost a game, and even longer than that since they have lost a game at home. With that being said New Hanover is a team that won’t simply roll over but will bring their A game in the matchup. Both teams have a nice group of talent and will look to seniors to lead the way. The guard matchup could very well dictate who wins this game, New Hanover will look to its Senior PG Freddie Taylor, while Northside will put the ball in the hands of Queens University Commit Kenny Dye.
