Recruiting Report: DaMarc Knight (2019)
After another strong season with L.W. Higgins, DaMarc Knight is ready to head into what will be a very important 17U campaign.
It’s then when he hopes to see his recruitment really start to spike.
As of last summer, Knight, a 6-foot-2 wing, had heard from Northwestern State, New Orleans and Tulane in the form of letters, and says other schools have been getting involved now, too.
“Those schools are still there, and there’s some new schools in the mix, too, like Nicholls State and East Tennessee State,” said Knight.
“Over the next six months, I really hope my recruitment goes really high. I’m really looking forward to having my first real, official offer. And I just want to show people how good I really can be this summer.”
Knight has worked hard to improve his perimeter skill-set over the past season. And says, specifically, it’s his jumper that’s improved.
“This past year, I was working on my foot-work, and I really improved my jump-shot,” he said. “I’ve really been working on my mid-range game, and I’ve improved that a lot.”
His junior season L.W. Higgins recently ended, Knight was good, averaging 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals per game.
“My role was a lot the same this season. I was the leader,” he said. “I had a way better season than I did my sophomore year. I led the team in scoring and was just trying to be a better leader.”
Last spring and summer, for 16U, Knight played with Team Mitch. He’s unsure of who he’ll play with this offseason. Regardless, he’s looking to improve as much as possible heading into his final high school season.
“I’m hoping I get better and improve my game even more. I hope to win more tournaments this summer and improve myself as a teammate and as a person,” said Knight. “And just get better heading into my senior year.”
