NCHSAA 1A & 2A East Region 3rd Round Matchups
Rocky Mount Prep vs East Carteret: The Mariners will need a huge game from their entire squad to be able to pull off the upset. Rocky Mount Prep is one of the top teams in the state with a record of 23-0 and features senior guard Khalil Baker who is averaging 27 points, and Senior Keyshawn Bryant who is averaging 21 points a night.
Granville Central vs West Columbus: The West Columbus Vikings pulled off a tough win against Riverside HS on Thursday night and will look to Unsigned Senior Wing Jake Brownlee to help the squad move forward. Granville Central has played well so far in the playoffs with their most recent win come against Rosewood HS.
Kinston vs Greene Central: If you want to get inside to see this game, you should make sure to get there very early. This is a matchup that will bring in a nice amount of fans, media and possibly even some college coaches. Kinston is the #1 overall seed but Greene Central has a talented group that should make things very interesting. Greene Central Junior Forward Imajae Dodd and Kinston HS Junior Guard Damian Dunn are both names that you already know as both players can fill up a stat sheet. The X factor could be Sophomore Wing Kentrell Suggs who has the ability to shoot the deep ball, if he gets it going from deep, things could get interesting.
Southwest Onslow vs Clinton HS: Southwest Onslow has been the Cinderella team so far as they have knocked off Trask HS and First Flight to advance to this round. They will need another great showing as they will be at #2 seed Clinton HS this afternoon, Clinton has an overall record of 25-1 and have won their first round games with 30 and 50 points.
Farmville Central vs West Craven: Farmville Central features one of the top young backcourts in the state with Sophomore Guard Justin Wright & Freshman Guard Terquavion Smith teaming up to do major damage. West Craven is a low seed by have shown their ability to step up in big game situations with a recent win over #5 seed Northeastern HS.
