Second Half
It was a lot like the first half, Tea played pressure defense forced some turnovers and built a lead. Senior Jonah Larson, a Mount Marty commit, had a team-high 24 points for the Watchdogs. Even though the score didn’t really show it, he kept Beresford in the game. Tea put the game away with less than 3 minutes left when Hohn swatted Beresford’s 6’4 Blake Peterson and then on the other end soared in for a putback. A couple plays later he soared in for another putback.
Takeaways
Mount Marty is getting a good player in Larson. He crashes the glass hard, drives to the basket and finishes well. Then if you try to step off him to get an extra step on him when he drives, he will step back and hit the deep three.
Tea Area’s Noah Friedel finished the game with 31 points, the sixth time this season he has finished with 30 or more points. He also had 5 rebounds and two blocks and had a nice fastbreak dunk.
The Titans shot 48 percent and made 8 of 23 three-pointers for 35 percent. They had 16 assists and shot 64 percent from the free throw line.
The Watchdogs shot 34 percent and made 5 of 14 three-pointers for 36 percent. They had 12 assists and shot 80 percent from the free throw line.
With the win, the Titans lock up the first seed and the first round bye. The Titans will play the winner of the Elk Point-Jefferson and Lennox game next Friday in Tea at 7 p.m.
With the loss, the Watchdogs get the sixth seed and will play at the three seed Vermilion next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
