NCHSAA 4A&3A Round 3 East Region Games to Watch!
Garner vs Leesville Road: Garner has a record of 26-1 this season , and their only loss this season came against Leesville Road in dramatic fashion. The Leesville backcourt of Carter Whitt & Jalen Benjamin will once again attempt to pull off the upset, however Garner will look to its senior veterans which includes Guard Marque Maultsby, to lead them to the next round.
Hoke County vs South Central HS: Hoke County comes into this matchup with a record of 25-1 while South Central HS is 25-0 this season so this should be a good one. South Central Sophomore Forward Dayron Sharpe has a nice amount of upside and has picked up interest from big time programs as of late while South Central Junior Guard Shykiem Phillips has played at an incredible level and has turned heads. Hoke County will need a big time night from Senior Guard Dakari Johnson and Forward Silas Love for them to pull off the win on the road.
Westover vs Southern Lee: Honestly this game probably wont produce much offense, with both of these teams being very familiar with one another, we can expect a defensive battle. Westover Junior Guards Thomas Hendricks and Tyron George have been a big part of their teams offense while Southern Lee got a nice showing from Junior Guard Phil Martin in their matchup vs Clayton HS.
Northside-Jax vs Terry Sanford: Northside has been absolutely dominant through the playoffs so far and will look to continue their high level of play against Terry Sanford. The Monarchs have an uptempo style of to their game and have multiple players that can go for 20 points on any night. Terry Sanford gets it done by committee and will need an outstanding showing from Senior Wings Holt Walker & Gabe Harbison to keep the game close.
New Hanover vs Northern Durham: Northern Durham features Sophomore Guard Ricky Council IV who is averaging over 20 points a night this season while New Hanover gets their production from a group of seniors. Finding ways to slow Council down will be the key for New Hanover, if Council gets going then things could get very interesting.
