5 Things To Watch: Friday Night in SD
There are some big games tonight across the state as we enter the last weekend of the regular season. Teams battling for seeding position as well as some top ten matchups will be featured tonight.
AA Seeding Position:
Rapid City Stevens and Rapid City Central look as if they have the top two seeds wrapped up, it is just a factor of who will be #1. After that, there are six teams within 1.100 power points of each other. Harrisburg has a big matchup with SF Lincoln tonight. SF Washington plays SF O’Gorman in another matchup that will affect seeding.
Class A Region 8:
The battle for #1 seed is on the line tonight as Hot Springs hosts Rapid City Christian. RCC lost last night at home to Faith so they need a bounce back game. This #1 seed is very important as it insures the #1 seed will be on the opposite side of the bracket as St. Thomas More who is playing better and will be a tough out int he region tourney.
Arlington @ Clark/Willow Lake:
Both of these teams are leading their region respectively and both are ranked in our top ten. Clark/Willow Lake checks in at #3 while Arlington sits at #10. Arlington will be led by Will Parry and Clark/Willow Lake has their trio of players to lead them, but I think a big night is needed from forward Micah Burke. This is the last regular season game for each team, however this might be a realistic preview of a sweet 16 or state tourney matchup.
Can Miller get #1 seed in Class A region 6?:
A battle at Highmore-Harrold tonight will leave us with a result of a win or loss for Miller. A win secures the #1 seed in their region while a loss will put them in jeopardy of falling behind Crow Creek. Miller needs a game from Steven Fernholz and Highmore-Harrold will be lead by Jharett Bloomenrader.
AJ Plitzuweit:
Go watch this kid play if you haven’t yet. This will be his last regular season game tonight as Vermillion travels to Canton. In a region that features defending champion Tea and top ten team Dakota Valley, there might not be a ton of opportunities to go watch Plitzuweit play. Canton has a nice senior athlete as well named Christian Beachler who is still undecided on college.
