2020 Potential Spring Stock Risers
We are wrapping down the high school basketball season and about to hit the spring travel team circuit. Here are 10 players in the 2020 class that could be prospects that see their stock rise in the spring!
Lamontay Daughtery (DuQuoin)
Daughtery currently sits at #3 in the PrepHoopsIllinois 2020 Rankings. He is primed to make major noise on the travel team circuit with Brad Beal Elite. The rangy and athletic small forward can score at all three levels and is starting to play with the confidence of a big time player.
Jayden Johnson (Batavia)
Johnson is a prospect that got on our radar last summer and has continued to progress as a sophomore. The crafty wing just knows how to score and can really shoot it from three. He has a lot of similar qualities to THT at the same stage in his career. If he can make the jump athletically of the Simeon star watch out.
Demarius Splunge (Orr)
Splunge transferred to Orr and had to sit out the majority of the season. The potential high-major prospect didn’t get to show his immense upside that we saw in the fall on the high school level as much as we had hoped. This spring could be his coming out party!
Dante Maddox (Bloom)
Maddox has progressed this season becoming a more efficient scorer and learning how to be the go to guy on a team. He has range on his shot and can score in transition. The next few months could be big in his development and early recruitment.
Yves Nkomba (La Sallette)
Nkomba is the ultimate mystery big man in a post group filled with a ton of them. He has legit size and length, but he is still very raw and learning the game. Will he put it all together with the Illinois Irish?
Marcus Watson (Morgan Park)
Watson is already rated in the top 20, but is trending up after his play in the second half of the season for the Mustangs. Lengthy guard with a good feel for the game getting others involved and working well around ball screens. Active defensively.
Nate Santos (Geneva)
Santos was hurt last spring/summer so he didn’t put his name firmly on the map until the fall in camp settings particularly at the Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp. He has size at 6’6” along with a silky smooth perimeter scoring game.
Patrick Readye (Belleville Althoff)
Readye is one of the more intriguing posts in this class. At 6’7” has a physically mature body that he can use to carve out space inside. Big body to throw it into and shows touch around the hoop. He displays flashes, but has yet to put it all together.
Aaron Tims (Hinsdale South)
Tims is an intriguing prospect with his length and being a rangy athlete. Right now he is a tweener forward which used to be a bad thing, but now is a positive. Quick to the glass and is efficient with his touches around the hoop. Interesting prospect to follow the next few months.
Josh Holmes (Jones)
Holmes is a wing that flashed last spring/summer as a combo guard that could really score. He is a bit hidden at Jones High School, but has put up solid numbers this year. We look forward to seeing where his game stacks up on the circuit.
Alex Wood (Normal U-High)
Wood is a high IQ point guard that gets others involved and knows how to get to his spots to score. Leadership qualities are off the charts! He has a little Xavier Castaneda to his game. Will he realize that potential this spring?
