Recruiting Report: Malik Hall (2019)
Sunrise Christian (KS) small forward Malik Hall is one of the premier wings in the 2019 class nationally. The former Metea Valley product is making a name for himself at the prep power and is having a strong junior campaign showing off his skilled and versatile game. PrepHoopsIllinois spoke with Hall about how his junior season is going at Sunrise.
“It has been an amazing year. Personally it has been the best year of basketball I have had in my life.”
What areas has he seen the most improvement?
“My mentality for sure. I always knew I had the tools to be a great player, but couldn’t reach my full potential until I had a change in mindset on the floor.”
This season he is averaging 13.6 points, 5.4 boards, and 2 assists per game on one of the top teams in the country. Hall updated us on his recruitment.
“I am still open to all schools and have been talking to a couple of schools, but don’t plan on cutting my list until after summer.”
What schools is he talking to the most and feels are making him the biggest priority?
“Purdue, Oregon, Mizzou, Oklahoma, and Cincinnati.”
What programs would he like to visit in the spring?
“I’m going to try and go out to Oregon, but I’m going to make a lot of visits this spring and summer.”
He has taken trips to Wichita State and Kansas this season for games. He broke down his timeline with us.
“I will narrow it down probably beginning of the school year next year or end of summer. Then take visits shortly after that. Then when I feel good I’ll commit.”
What is he looking for in a school?
“Connection with the program. If it really feels like a family because at this point everyone can win, but it’s whether I really like it at the school.”
