Prospect Spotlight: Andre Castro (2020)
A 5-foot-7 point-guard from Granger, Andre Castro is enjoying a very productive sophomore season.
And has been key in helping the Spartans advance through the postseason.
“This season’s going good, I’m a starting guard and we made it to the third-round of districts. My role is help getting the ball moving and help get everything started, but also be a threat with my shooting, I averaged somewhere between 15-20 points a game,” said Castro.
“My strengths as a player is my shooting, I can shoot from anywhere on the court, deep 3s also. Dribbling and driving is also a strength I have, as well as shooting from the line.”
This spring and summer, Castro says he’ll be getting into the gym plenty. And mentioned that although he hasn’t played grassroots ball in the past, he’s considering it this offseason.
“My offseason plans are to get into the gym and workout, and get myself stronger for my last two years of high school ball. I also wanna get a little bigger so I’m not so small,” said Castro.
“I do not play AAU, but I was asked to play with a team for summer and spring. My goals for summer and spring are just to prepare myself for my last two years.”
He added: “I want to be more than ready for season to start again, and I want to help the team out in every way I can. Basketball is something I live for and the sport I love.”
