There are many point guards in Northern California that are making a name for themselves this season. With senior point guards such as James Akinjo, Elijah Hardy, Darrion Trammell, and junior point guards such as Jaden & Jovon McClanahan, Northern California has shown that they know how to breed good point guards. From former NBA point guards like Jason Kidd and Gary Payton, all the way down to current NBA all-star point guard Damian Lillard, Nor-Cal has good point guards. Here are five under the radar junior point guards that people may want to keep an eye on heading into their Senior year.
Jonathon Cobbs – Vanden HS 6’1′
Cobbs has a great skill set as he can shoot, finish with both hands, and also create for others. Cobbs will be a very key component for Vanden as they look to make a state run, and he will also look to fill Senior guard Aaron Porcil’s shoes next year.
Akil Edwards – St. Patrick-St. Vincents HS 6’0′
Edwards is a great athlete and is very good in the open court. He plays really good defense, and gets to the paint to create for others. This will be an important summer for Edwards as he will be playing for Team Lillard.
Miles Amos – Stuart Hall HS 6’0′
Amos had a good showing at the “Crush in the Valley” event hosted by Prolific Prep which put more people on notice about his ability. His two-way mentality on offense and the defensive end will make him a hot prospect this summer for Bay City AAU Basktball.
Isaiah Thomas – De Anza HS 5’10’
Thomas had a breakout performance last week as he scored 41 points and has helped lead De Anza to a surprising 23-3 record on the season. Thomas is a part of a very athletic and high energy group, and his stock continues to rise among point guards.
John Grayson – Armijo HS 5’10’
Grayson has had multiple 30 point performances this season and has shown that he can defend as well. He shoots the ball well from three, and plays the game at a solid pace. Grayson doesn’t forces shots, and he does a good job of setting up his teammates.
