There are many point guards in Northern California that are making a name for themselves this season. With point guards such as James Akinjo, Elijah Hardy, Darrion Trammell, and more, Northern California has shown that they know how to breed good point guards. From former NBA point guards like Jason Kidd and Gary Payton, all the way down to current NBA all-star point guard Damian Lillard, Nor-Cal has good point guards. Here are five under the radar senior point guards that people may want to keep an eye on.
Aaron Porcil – Vanden HS 6’1′
Porcil is in the runnings for league MVP in the solano county athletic conference as he led Vanden to a record breaking 10-0 league record. Porcil recently decomitted from St. Michael’s which is a division 2 school, to re-open his recruiting process. He will gain more interest as Vanden advances further in the playoffs
Kyree Brown – Berkeley HS 5’10’
Kyree has a great motor and is a good on-ball defender. His ability to defend and get in the open court makes him a solid point guard. He also has the ability to get to the paint and create for others.
Ricky Griffin – Hercules HS 6’1′
Griffin has division 1 speed and has a long wingspan for his 6’1′ height. He finishes well at the rim, and has the ability to defend opposing guards full-court. Griffin would be prime at the national juco level as he will get more exposure.
Kade Lockrem – Benicia HS 6’1′
Kade is very skilled and has good speed. He can also shoot from the outside, and is more athletic than he looks with his ability to sneak up on bigs and snatch rebounds. Kade is a very underrated point guard who plays well in big games.
Blair Newman – College Park HS 5’3′
Newman’s size may allow his opponents to overlook him but his heart makes him hard to sleep on. He has great on-ball defense, blazing quick speed, and gets to the rim well. He is a lefty that uses good dribble hesistations similar to Lakers new point guard Isaiah Thomas. Newman would be great for a NAIA school or NCAA division 3.
