Recruiting Report: Jake Dye (2018)
The senior class is not the best we have had in the state over the last few years but it is really flexing it’s muscles in the final season. Part of that is because of guys stepping into their roles and leading their teams. One such player that is standing out is Griffith’s Jake Dye.
Over the course of his career, Griffith’s Jake Dye is a three-time Sectional Champion, three-time Regional Champion, and been the to the State Finals once before losing to Guerin Catholic. Now, in his final season, he is looking to make that four Sectionals, four regionals, and another deep run.
Dye is a big wing scoring threat, mostly as shooter but has enough to break guys down from the wing and mix it up a bit. He’s 6’6 and built really well with some length. He’s best as a shooter because you really can’t slow him down off the catch.
Colleges have been tracking him for quite a while and he’s got a slew of interest from different parts of the country. Carroll College (MT), Concordia (WI), Goshen College, Marquette, and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
While he has yet to pick up an official offer, the high-academic student looking to study Criminal Justice should be right in there for a bunch of schools at the end. He’s a very low risk, high upside player that should provide a good amount of offense and a high-level skill with his shooting.
As the season wears down, Dye could be one that jumps out with his play if he can get Griffith back to their fourth straight Sectional and Regional title.
