Keeping Up With District Tournaments, Who Has Stood Out So Far?
As district tournaments kick off across the state we at PHID want to keep you posted on the big time performances taking place as the action gets heated up in the numerous Gem state gyms. This is such a fun time in the basketball season as players and teams are laying it out late in the season with the state tournament in mind.
These type of scenarios can bring out the best of the best in terms of prospects and there is no doubt that we will be seeing plenty of familiar names posting impressive lines to help carry their teams to wins. Here are some of the players who have caught our eye in the early going of district tournament play this week.
Adam Lauda, Buhl
In Buhl’s first round of the Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference tournament against Filer, Adam Lauda contributed 19 points, 8 rebounds and four steals to help lift his team by a narrow two point margin. A very nice all-around performance.
Rylee Spencer, Raft River
Rylee Spencer got it going in his team’s first round game of the Snake River Conference Tournament as his game-high 19 points paced the Trojans in their 65-40 win over Hagerman.
Chandler Pincock, Sugar-Salem
The Sugar-Salem 2018 guard did it all while his coach had to leave the game due to kidney stone complications. Chandler Pincock lit up the scoreboard once again for the defending 3A state champions as he finished with 31 points in a win over Teton.
Jalen Galloway and Cooper Anderson, Mountain View
Teammates Jalen Galloway and Cooper Anderson were dominant in their team’s first round win over rival Meridian in the 5A SIC first round matchup, Galloway, who has been an absolute stud all season for the Mavericks dropped 26 points and 9 rebounds while Anderson added 22 points and 9 rebounds of his own. This duo could be peaking at the exact right time, a dangerous team for any to face.
Daxton Carr, Highland
The Cal Poly signee was at it again in his team’s first round 5A District 5-6 win against Rigby, Daxton Carr scored 21 points and showed why he is one of the top players in the entire 2018 class.
Slade Dill, Dietrich
Another familiar name in terms of standout players in Idaho this season, 2018 forward Slade Dill chipped in 24 points to help lead his team to an easy first round win in the North Side Conference Tournament over Community School.
Jake Hall, Aberdeen
Jake Hall has been on our radar for the 2018 class this season and proved his standing by finishing with 21 points in a win over Malad during the 2A District 5 play-in game. Let’s see what Hall has in store moving forward for Aberdeen.
Kaden Koudelka, Carey
A rather new name for our 2018 list this season, Kaden Koudelka came out on fire to kick off district play in his team’s win over Castleford scoring 21 points.
Cole Baker, Jerome
Jerome got a first round win in the Great Basin Conference Tournament over Canyon Ridge in large part because of the stellar play from Cole Baker who ended with a game-high 20 points.
Kasen Carpenter, Minico
The 2020 Minico prospect Kaden Carpenter who has been solid all season long was at it again this time going for 21 points in a win over Wood River in the first round of the Great Basin Conference Tournament.
Cruz Taylor, Skyline
Skyline’s Cruz Taylor went for 10 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals in a win over Pocatello, also carrying a heavy heart with the sudden passing of his cousin, funeral before the game. PHID‘s thoughts are with Taylor and his family.
