During the month of February, the NBA All-Star Weekend takes place in which players are selected from each conference based off their performance for the first half of the season. The All-Star starters are what brings the most excitement for the game. In honor of the all-star starter selection, Prep Hoops Nor-Cal would like to feature an “All Under the Radar Team” for each class throughout Northern California. A player from each position will be selected to round up the team. The Class of 2021 featured freshman like Salesian’s Houston Mallette, and Napa’s Brock Bowers, along with others. These are the five sophomores that are on the “All Under the Radar Team”.
Brahjon Thompson – James Logan HS PG
Thompson has the desire to be the best point guard in Northern California. He plays with a Russell Westbrook-like chip on his shoulder and plays hard every game. Thompson can score and is a crafty lefty that gets to the paint well.
Teiano Hardee – Vanden HS SG
Hardee is showcasing growth in his game since his freshman season. He has worked tremendously on his body and playing above the rim. He is also shooting the ball very efficiently from the field.
Tejon Sawyer – Salesian HS SF
Sawyer is another young piece to Salesian’s success and has continued to step up for Salesian in big games. Sawyer’s skill set and 6’6′ frame will make him a hot commodity for division one colleges this summer.
Deshawn Lynch – Folsom PF
Lynch is currently receiving division 1 interest in football, but that doesn’t take away his ability and potential on the basketball court. Lynch is a big body who uses his body well and is a force on the boards. He does all the dirty work inside and has a high basketball IQ similar to former NBA player Dejuan Blair.
Handre Reineke – Rocklin F/C
Rieneke is tough big man with solid footwork and can also shoot from the outside. He plays hard and has an excellent motor for his size and will be a huge part of Rocklin’s future as he and his sophomore teammate Darius Kendall will look to make a deep run.
