Iowa’s Player of the Week Poll (10)
Sam Ingoli (2018)
6’4 PG, Dowling Catholic
, Ingoli mysteriously only picked up one Division I offer ahead of his senior season on the hardwood. So, he committed to play football at UNI instead. Panthers basketball coach Ben Jacobson may want to pay attention. The big guard with a sky-high basketball IQ was showcasing his efficiently productive style of play last week; in two Maroons wins, Ingoli went averaged 20 points on 58 percent shooting — 66 percent from deep (4-6) — 6.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals.
Owen Coburn (2019)
6’10 C, Spirit Lake
The future South Dakota State Jackrabbits big-man went off during a Spirit Lake win on Tuesday, to the tune of 40 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. He followed that up with a nice performance on Friday night (albeit during a loss) against 4A opponent, Sioux City West, going for 24 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks in that one. Coburn is without a doubt one of the state’s premier big-men.
Brady Sartorius (2018)
6′ PG, Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant hasn’t been playing much lately, but when they do, Brady Sartorius dominates. He’s got his Panthers flying high as the the No. 2 team in 3A. They played just one game last week, and it was one of Sartorius’ best during his very strong season, a 31 point, five rebound, five assist performance in a shellacking of Washington. In his previous game (the week before), Sartorius spun another gem, going for 25 points, seven assists and three steals in a 50-point win over Centerville.
Nick Jacobs (2019)
Akron-Westfield, 5’10 PG
The Westerners finished their regular season with only seven wins, but they ended with a high note, a 65-45 triumph over Westwood, Sloan. Jacobs was sensational in the win, going for 24 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals. He was even better last Tuesday during a narrow loss to Gehlen Catholic, dropping a career high 43 points and dishing out six assists. What’s most impressive, is he canned 17 3s in the two games.
Luke Clausen (2018)
6’3 SF, Treynor
As usual, the Cardinals are rolling heading into the the post-season, and this senior leader is a big reason why. Clausen has burst onto the scene this season after having a relatively quiet junior campaign. He put a bow on Treynor’s undefeated regular season with two gems, and averaged 28.5 points on 64 percent shooting (he canned 12 of his 24 3-attempts), 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game last week.
