Prospect Spotlight: Josh Thomas (JUCO)
Josh Thomas is a former Simeon guard that attended prep school last year and now is at Wabash Valley. The JUCO power combo guard stands at 6’3” and 205 pounds. Tough as nails guard that is a great glue guy. He does the little things well making bullet passes in the lane and gets on the glass well for a guard. Solid on ball defender that can get in passing lanes. Thomas is a player that is garnering low-major interest from one in-state program.
He spoke about his freshman season at Wabash Valley.
“The first year has been a learning process. I started the year a little bit shaky, but I am coming back into it. I am getting used to the college game and the speed. Reading the defense and basketball IQ. At the same time it is still basketball and I am going to have fun with it. It is going great now.”
Where has he improved the most since his Simeon days?
“My basketball IQ definitely. I am taking the game more as chess than checkers like I was in high school and prep. I am thinking the game better. Reading the defense better. I have stepped up on defense. In the college game you have to play defense. It can be hidden a little bit in high school, but in college you really have to lock down and play D.”
Thomas updated us on his recruitment.
“I am talking to SIU-Edwardsville. A couple more schools that my dad has talked with. I am a qualifier so I can leave or stay. I haven’t decided what I am going to do for next year.”
