The Best: Broken Arrow vs Muskogee
Broken Arrow and Muskogee faced off in a late season match up at Broken Arrow High School on Friday. The game was tightly contested until late in the fourth quarter when the shots just would not fall for the Roughers. Muskogee is a better team than their 8-13 record would suggest, but they just cannot seem to put an entire game together. In fairness to the Roughers they played what is probably the best Class 6A team in the state very tightly. The Tigers pulled away in the fourth to beat the Roughers 64-56.
Braden Boyer 2018 Broken Arrow Post
Boyer was on fire for the Tigers tonight. On a team with a lot of offensive firepower, Boyer does not normally star but tonight was different. The University of Arkansas Fort Smith commit started the game strong with a steal and a huge jam, which got the Muskogee coach to call a timeout within the first 20 seconds of the game. Boyer did not slow down throughout the game and was dominant in the fourth quarter. He also showed a touch from the perimeter as he hit a couple of big three’s throughout the game. Boyer finished with a game-high 21 points in one of his best games of the year.
Caleb Huffman 2018 Broken Arrow Guard
Huffman was quieter on the Broken Arrow senior night than he normally is. He was a consistent threat on the break, but struggled to finish at the rim as well as he normally does. Huffman’s stroke from the perimeter still made him a danger in the game. He finished with 12 points on the night.
Josh Robinson 2018 Broken Arrow Guard
Robinson was just as good as he always is. He attacked the basket with vigor and finished at the rim time and time again. He was a big part of the Tigers finally pulling away from Muskogee in the second half. He finished with 15 points on the night. Robinson will play a vital part as the Tigers go forward into the post season. The Tigers are the top-ranked team in Class 6A and Robinson is a big reason why.
CJ Parks 2018 Muskogee Post
Parks was dominant in the paint for Muskogee. He could not be guarded down low as he scored tough basket after tough basket. The Roughers could not seem to find Parks in parts of the game as they took contested shots from the perimeter. When Muskogee found Parks he scored. He just was not given the ball on a night when he was hot. Parks finished the game with 14 points.
Xavier Brown 2021 Muskogee Guard
Brown could be the future for Muskogee. The freshman was starting to show maturity as he started knock down his shot consistently against Broken Arrow. Brown was a big reason that the Roughers were able to stay in the game for as long as they did. He hit two big transition three’s in the second half to close the Broken Arrow lead to one possession. Brown finished the game with 11 points on the night.
