Pee Dee Roundup
The playoffs start next week in the Palmetto State and teams are fighting for position throughout the state. Lets take a look at some of the action from the Pee Dee last night.
Wilson pounded St James 88-52. Southeast Missouri State signee Alex Caldwell led the Tigers with 28 points. Allen Williamson (2019) added 15 points, Jamonty Williams (2018) 12 points and Darius Rhodes (2018) chipped in with 11 points. The Tigers #1 team in Class 4-A in the state will stay at home for the playoffs.
Socastee slipped by South Florence 52-51. The Braves right now in 3rd place in the region were led in scoring by Kassius “Jay” Williams (2019) with 14 points. Andrew Gardner added 12 points along Alex Collins 10 points. The Bruins were led in scoring by Justice Jackson with 24 points and Nick Ford 10 points.
The West Florence Knights stunned the Conway Tigers 50-49. The Knights were led by Sabien Nero with 19 points. Nick Stewart (2018) added 15 points in the win. Juwan Moody a East Carolina University football signee led the Tigers with 11 points while Providence signee Jimmy Nichols added 8 points along with Furman football signee Darren Grainger.
Great Falls knocked off the McBee Panthers 60-50. Kelton Talford (2020) led the Red Devils with 22 points while Tommy Belk added 13 points. Shane Hammonds (2018) joined the 1,000 point club by scoring 26 points for the Panthers in the defeat.
The Lee Central Stallions stayed perfect in the region at 12-0 with a win over Andrew Jackson HS 56-46. The Stallions were led in scoring by Shykeem Cooper with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Daequan Thomas and DaVeon Thomas both added 10 points in the win.
Darlington defeated Crestwood 62-46. The Falcons have a big matchup with Lakewood HS on Thursday for the region championship. The Falcons were led in scoring by Jalian Smith with 16 points and Kenynon Scott chipped in with 11 points. Kris’Shawn Hickman scored 8 points in the victory. The Falcons move to 16-7 on the year.
