The Week Ahead: 2/5-2/10
The clock is running down on the regular season in Kentucky. There are only 2 weeks left until teams’ seasons start ending in the district tournaments. This week features some good games that could be previews of the upcoming regional tournaments. Here are a few of the top games in the state this week:
Monday, February 5th
Madison Southern heads to Winchester to tangle with George Rogers Clark.
The back-court of Marques Warrick and Keaston Brown take on JJ Ramey and Matt Cromer as Henry Clay hosts South Laurel
Tuesday, February 6th
Henderson County heads to Owensboro to play Apollo in a 2nd region vs 3rd region matchup.
Hunter Stevens and Southwestern head to Danville to take on Jason Alexander and Bryce Slone in a 12th region showdown.
Oldham County takes on Collins in a pivotal 8th region game.
Madison Central locks horns with Lexington Catholic in a pivotal game in the 11th region.
Lincoln County looks to knock off Mercer County in a 12th region rivalry game.
Bowling Green drives up the Natcher to take on Owensboro in a 4th vs 3rd region matchup.
Fern Creek heads to the 7th region to take on St. X and senior Pierce Kiesler.
Wednesday, February 7th
Waggener heads to Ballard in a game that could be a preview of a 7th region tournament game in a couple of weeks.
Thursday, February 8th
Aidan Matthews and Meade County take on Breckinridge County in a district contest.
2 of the top 3 teams in the 15th region do battle as Pikeville and Pike County Central renew their rivalry.
Hopkinsville should be at full strength when they host district foe University Heights.
Friday, February 9th
Doss and PRP meet in a pivotal 6th region clash that could easily be a regional semifinal.
Trinity makes a return trip to the 11th region as they take on Lafayette. Last time the rocks came to the 11th, they fell to Madison Central.
Mayfield and Graves meet up in a big game in the 1st region.
Saturday, February 10th
John Hardin takes on Butler in a big 5th/6th region battle.
Mercer County and Trevon Faulkner take on Warren Central and Skyelar Potter in a matchup of 2 kids who will play in the Horizon League next season.
Madisonville-North Hopkins squares off with Henderson County in a second region clash.
Bryan Station heads to Pulaski County as Boss Boone and Steven Fitzgerald look to enhance their Mr. Basketball resumes.
Valley Senior Curt Lewis takes the high powered offense to Bardstown to take on Coach Boo Brewer’s Tigers.
