Cobb Co. Region Tournament Week Pt. 3
- The 2017-2018 season is slowly coming to an end. With the regular season in the books, all games will be elimination games from now on. Cobb County has 17 public schools across the board and all are split up into six different region according to the GHSA. In this post we will take a look at McEachern’s region, Region 3 class 7A features five Cobb County public schools: McEachern, Hillgrove, Kennesaw Mountain, North Cobb, and Marietta, and Walton’s region, which is Region 4 class 7A and features only two Cobb County public schools: Walton and Lassiter.
Region 3 Class 7A Tournament – Feb. 6th, 9-10th at Hillgrove High School
Final Region Standing: 1. McEachern, 2. North Cobb, 3. Kennesaw Mountain, 4. Marietta, 5. Hillgrove, 6. North Paulding
The Region 3 class 7A tournament will be hosted by Hillgrove High School. The first round matchups will be played Tuesday night Feb. 6th. Kennesaw Mountain will face the number six seed North Paulding at 6pm. These two squads split their season series and the winner will face North Cobb Friday night at 8:30pm in the 2nd round. Hillgrove will face Marietta following the Kennesaw Mountain/North Paulding game. These two schools also split their season series and the winner will face McEachern Friday night at 5:30pm. Region 4 Class 7A Tournament – Feb. 6th, 8-9th at Roswell High School
Final Region Standings: 1. Etowah, 2. Walton, 3. Roswell, 4. Woodstock, 5. Cherokee, 6. Lassiter
The Region 4 class 7A tournament will be hosted by Roswell High School. The first round matchups will be played Tuesday night Feb. 6th. Lassiter will be facing the host school Roswell to start things off on the boys side at 5:30pm. The Trojans are 0-2 against Roswell this year, but last season’s region tournament Lassiter shocked the world in the 1st round by defeating Woodstock and went on to the state playoffs. Can the Trojans have the same luck this year? Woodstock will be facing Cherokee, who has an outstanding freshman in 2021 guard Taihland Owens, in the night cap at 8:30pm. Walton will not be playing until Thursday with a bye in the first round and will face the winner between Roswell and Lassiter. Etowah, who also received a bye for the first round, will face the winner between Woodstock and Cherokee. Etowah is currently the defending region champions.
