WNC’s Division II & III Prospects
A look at some of the top Division II and III prospects from around Western North Carolina.
Tai Giger 6’1 SG Carolina Day-Skilled guard who can get into the lane at will, strong upper-body and has a high basketball IQ. He is a solid shooter from deep and can light it up at times. He can get into the paint, he handles the ball well and is a play-maker.
Tai GigerJosh Searcy 6’4 SG East Rutherford HS-Big strong guard that can attack the paint and score from the perimeter. He is a good mid-range jump shot shooter, he can rebound with his size and is a good defender.
Lane Kervin 6’2 SG Tuscola High School-Kervin has the size, shooting touch and basketball IQ to make an impact at the Division II or III level for the right program. He is a tough Waynesville, North Carolina kid who understands the game, doesn’t make many mistakes with the ball, has a good shot, does the little things to help his team win and Tuscola has been winning a lot lately.
Lucas Jenkins 6’1 G Mountain Heritage-Stepped up big time this season when one of the teams more highly touted players went down with injury. Has the ability to score in transition and in half court , doesn’t allow himself to be sped up at all. Has an offer from Mars Hill University.
Chase Kirkpatrick 6’2, 2019 G Avery County High School-Skilled 2019 guard has good size, can finish plays at the rim, understands the game and has a good handle. At 6’2, Kirkpatrick will have to play some three and four position at Avery. He will be the other scoring option for Avery while teams may double-team Deacon Heath.
Josh Walton 6’5, 2018 SF Enka HS-One of the most athletic players in the area, Walton is also physically gifted with big shoulders and long arms. He runs the floor really well and can jump out of the gym. He is a good mid-range jump shooter and has good timing on rebounds and is able to block shots.
DaQuan George 6’5 W Shelby HS-Role player for his high school team but will continue to get better as time goes on. Always puts the team first, no matter if he’s playin major minutes or not he’s always engaged.
Zion Walker 6’0, 2018 G Asheville HS-Quick, good frame, finished with contact. Smart, makes right play, and is a consistent shooter from beyond the three-point line that can rattle off three or four in a row.
