The Basketball Interview: Jaquantae Harris (2021)
Hoke County, North Carolina has produced some really talented basketball players over the years. Recently, Tarique Thompson who had a strong career at High Point University. Coach Quame Strickland gets a lot out of his players and is one of the best coaches’ in the state. Freshman guard Jaquantae Harris is the next in line.
Justin Byerly:What’s it like being considered one of the top freshman in the basketball state of North Carolina?
Jaquantae Harris:It feels good to be one of the top players in my class in the state of North Carolina but I still gotta work.
Justin Byerly:What’s it like playing in Hoke County?
Jaquantae Harris:It is a good to play at Hoke County, I came in as a freshman and had to earn my respect, earn my minutes .
Justin Byerly:What kind of place is Hoke County to grow up in?
Jaquantae Harris:Its good to grow up in Hoke County but some areas, you might not wanna grow up there.
Justin Byerly:Who are some of the people/players that you look up to in your area?
Jaquantae Harris:People I look up to in my area is Terrell McIntyre. He is on the staff at Clemson now and played there.
Justin Byerly:What is the best part of your game?
Jaquantae Harris:The best part of my game is passing the ball, attacking the basket, scoring when I need to and shooting the basketball.
Justin Byerly: What are some things you need to improve on?
Jaquantae Harris:I need to approve on staying low on my defense.
Harris has been having a great start to the season at Hoke County. Playing with two players who will play at the next level in Silas Love (UNC-Pembroke) and Dakari Johnson as seniors will help with the development of Harris. He has a dream school of NC State, his goals for the rest of the season is to average 15 points per game and make the all-conference team. He will be playing with Team Felton this summer/spring.
