The 5: Sequoyah Tahlequah vs Okmulgee
On Tuesday night Sequoyah Tahlequah had their way dismantling Okmulgee 57-40. It didn’t even feel that close to those who were in attendance. The 5 breaks down the five players colleges need to know in this small school matchup.
Bobby Cade 2018 Sequoyah Tahlequah Point Guard
Cade is an athletic small Guard with a solid handle. He was feisty on defense giving Okmulgee players trouble especially when the man he was guarding attempted to drive to the rim. Cade has some hops, which he showed off a few times on dunks.
Adam Saine 2018 Sequoyah Tahlequah Post
Saine surprised me with his ability to stretch the floor from three-point range. He knocked down three three-pointers out of four attempts. He has good form and touches on his jumper. He struggled to drive the ball to the hoop but showed some positives with his shooting and ability to rebound the ball.
CJ Soap 2019 Sequoyah Tahlequah Guard
Soap led all scorers with 15 points for the Indians. He scored from all three levels. Late in the game Soap caught fire to push Sequoyah to victory with ease. Soap is a guy to keep an eye on for small colleges.
Devion Nelson 2018 Okmulgee Guard
Mr. Smooth was the best way to describe Nelson on the floor. He scored the basketball primarily by getting to the basket, which he could do just about anytime he wanted. Nelson was too passive at times when Okmulgee needed him to take over. Nelson has a lot of the intangibles coaches at the next level will want. He will need to be pushed to become the best player he can be. He projects to the NCAA Division II to JUCO level.
Anfernee Nelson 2020 Okmulgee Guard
Nelson is the spot up specialist for Okmulgee on the Wing. He hit some big shots in the first half to keep Okmulgee close. It was not his best shooting night, but coaches should certainly know his name for the 2019 Oklahoma Class. He projects to the NAIA Division II level.
