Recruiting Report: Aundre Hyatt 2019
This weekend I attended the January Jam presented by SLAM at Bishop Sullivan High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia and one of the top performers was 2019 wing Aundre Hyatt of Miller School. He finished with 35 points and 13 rebounds for Miller School as they topped Massanutten Military Academy. He is a great catch and shoot guy, he is good off the dribble and has shown that he is becoming a better defender. Because of his great attributes on the court they are a number of high major schools that are really standing out to him.
“LSU, Oregon, Kansas, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Virginia Tech are all talking to me a lot right now.”
Will Wade from LSU has known Hyatt for a long time as he used to coach in the state of Virginia and Hyatt has a good relationship with him, “Will Wade is a great coach, I love him, he is so passionate about the game and that is what I like in coaches just like Buzz Williams at Virginia Tech, coaches that want to see me do well regardless if I go to their school or not, coaches that are going to push me as soon as I get to college.”
Hyatt mentioned Buzz Williams and he did say that Virginia Tech is involved, “Tech is involved, they offered me last year and they are recruiting me pretty hard right now. Buzz is a great coach and I love the playing style there.”
A certain west coast schools is talking heavily to Hyatt, “Oregon offered me last February, they think that I am a great shooter and everything is going well with them.”
One of the schools that he hears from the most is Rutgers, “Coach Pikiell offered me last December and he loves my game. He probably calls me the most out of all the coaches recruiting me to just check on me. I love his team and I love how the program is developing especially over the past couple of years.”
The next school he mentioned was Seton Hall, “They offered me in the summer time. I have visited it twice already and I love the school. They are a top 25 team weekly and they need another wing to come in when the seniors graduate.”
Kansas has not offered Hyatt like the other schools he talked about with us but they are talking to him on a regular basis, “They are just recruiting me right now, nothing serious. They are supposed to come out and see me and they are texting me weekly.”
When asked about a time decision on a commitment he said, “Probably by the fall.”
