Top 2020 Post Prospects
The class of 2020 big man group is a tricky one. There are a ton of prospects that are in the mix at the low-major to potentially mid-major levels with not a lot of separation. Here are some of the players that college programs should be monitoring heading into the spring. We quickly hit on a lot of names here!
PF Kee Hargrow (Joliet Central)
Current Ranking: #11
Travel Team: Meanstreets
Hargrow is an athletic four man that emerged last spring on the travel team circuit. His mobility and athleticism make him very intriguing with his ability to run the floor, block shots, rebound, and be efficient offensively. Just scratching the surface of his potential.
C Nate Seputis (Lincoln Way East)
Current Ranking: #12
Travel Team: Team RWA
Seputis is a well-built 6’9” center that has great size and strength on the interior. He has the ability to score with his back to the basket and rebounds at a high rate in his area. Face up potential.
PF Seryee Lewis (Kenwood)
Current Ranking: #17
Travel Team: Young & Reckless
Lewis is an athletic four man that plays above the rim high pointing rebounds and blocking shots. Has skill potential, but right now relies heavily on his athleticism.
C Devon House (Sterling Newman)
Current Ranking: #18
Travel Team: Quad City Elite
House is a wide bodied 6’6” center that isn’t the most athletic, but he knows how to use his body to score. Soft touch around the hoop and quality footwork from this young post.
C Yves Nkomba (La Salette)
Current Ranking: #20
Travel Team: Illinois Irish
Nkomba is one of the biggest upside players of this group. He is 6’9” and from overseas. Runs the floor tremendously well, blocks shots, and rebounds. Flashes offense, but is still a work in progress.
PF Jordan Kwiecinski & Bennett Kwiecinski (Loyola)
Current Ranking: #22 and #23
Travel Team: Illinois Wolves
These twins bring a lot of versatility and skill to the table. They are combo forwards that can slide over and play some on the wing as well. Defensively they can guard multiple positions and are advanced skill wise for their age.
C Martice Mitchell (Bloom)
Current Ranking: #24
Travel Team: All-In
Mitchell is a big man that has the physical tools, but he just hasn’t quite put it all together. Older for his grade and needs to play with more assertiveness, but there is definitely talent there with his shot blocking and offensive potential.
C Patrick Readye (Belleville Althoff)
Current Ranking: #26
Travel Team: Brad Beal Elite
Readye is a kid that we are intrigued by with his big physical frame and how he is efficient scoring with his back to the basket. Rebounds well. Not an overly explosive athlete.
C Brandon Lieb (Deerfield)
Current Ranking: #27
Travel Team: Illinois Wolves
Lieb runs the floor extremely well for his size showing great mobility. He finishes strong around the hoop. Like his ability to score with his back to the basket. Defensively flashes shot blocking potential.
C Chris Conway (Naperville Central)
Current Ranking: #28
Travel Team: ET21 Buckeyes
Excellent rebounder that high points the ball at its highest point and outlets it to his guards. Consistently gets on the glass. Has a chance to be an excellent shot blocking and post defender down the road.
PF Aaron Tims (Hinsdale South)
Current Ranking: #29
Travel Team: Baylor Youth
Tims is a springy athlete at the power forward position that gets on the offensive glass. Also makes quick and aggressive moves with the ball in his hands. Needs to add more strength going forward.
PF Colin Crothers (Benet)
Current Ranking: #31
Travel Team: All-In
Crothers is a very skilled post that can score with his back to the basket and even face up a little. Seems to play hard, but really struggles against athletic defenders and length.
PF Dominic Franklin (Bogan)
Current Ranking: #33
Travel Team: Young & Reckless
Franklin is all upside as he moved here last spring from Atlanta. The thin post hasn’t played this season for Bogan. This will be a big spring and summer for him.
C Connor Linke (St. Charles North)
Current Ranking: #34
Travel Team: Illinois Wolves
Shot blocking presence that has a chance to be a plus rim protector. Rebounds very well in his area. Gets on the offensive glass at a nice clip for put backs. Flashes potential scoring on the block. Not much PT for his high school team.
