Iowa’s Player of the Week Poll (7)
Zach Martinek (2019)
6’4 G, West Fork
The always-good West Fork Warhawks started the season 6-5 this season, that’s not up to their standards; but they’ve reeled off four wins just last week thanks in large part to junior guard Zach Martinek. He was a stat-stuffer in the wins, averaging 21.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.3 steals and a block per game.
Tyreke Locure (2019)
5’10, Des Moines North
We could probably include the Polar Bears guard in this poll every week, and he was his usual dominant self in three more North wins last week. Locure has his team flying high, and at 13-2 they’re our 6th-ranked team in 4A. Last week Locure — Iowa’s 3rd-ranked 2019 — averaged 25.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game.
Noah Beck (2020)
5’5 PG, BGM
Beck has been catching our eye plenty this season, and though he’s small in stature, man does he pack a big punch. Remarkably, the 5’5 sophomore averaged a quadruple-nickel (5-5-5-5) last week in two Bears wins, going for 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 7.5 steals per W.
Evan Gauger (2019)
6’2 G, Indianola
Gauger recently picked up a D2 offer from Queens University in North Carolina, and his play this season could warrant many more scholarship opportunities. The All-Iowa Attack product has Indianola flying high, that’s something the Indians haven’t been able to say for awhile. He, like his peers on this list, was a stat-stuffer last week, averaging 21.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.3 steals and a block in three Indianola wins.
Ryan Miller (2018)
5’10 G, North Linn
Miller’s North Linn squad has been winning by an average of 56 points per game, that’s kind of amazing. He’s been the leading scorer for the Lynx this season, averaging 25.9 points per game. Last week he averaged 26.5 points in two more North Linn wins. The senior sharpshooter added 6.5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals per game for good measure.
