Five Takeaways: Lake Braddock vs. South County
BURKE, VA — South County recorded a 111-109 win over Lake Braddock in a double overtime thriller. Here are the 10 best from this exciting and hard fought contest.
QMB EVOLVING INTO A VERY DOMINANT PAINT PRESENCE
We’ve done our best to document the steady but sure growth and development of 2018 Quentin Millora-Brown over the past couple of years, and on this occasion he continued to show signs progress. The 6-foot-10 center was a commanding presence in the paint on both ends of the floor, shared the ball with his teammates, and managed to keep up with the hectic pace dictated by Lake Braddock. This time last year, it was rare to see Millora-Brown dunk in a game, but he had at least three in this one. His agility has improved, which is a testament to the work he’s put into improving his body, and the results are paying off. QMB recorded 42 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots.

LAKE BRADDOCK JUNIOR QUENTIN JAMES IMPRESSES
2019 point guard Quentin James is a big reason why Lake Braddock are able to play at the pace they do. The highly skilled southpaw floor general is a strong athlete who has deep range off the bounce, but can also make it rain from the triple threat. James gets very low to the ground when he attacks off the dribble, and uses his quickness along with shrewd ball fakes to keep defenders guessing. His game certainly translates to high level college basketball, and it will be intriguing to see his recruitment continue to develop. James recorded 27 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in this contest.
NOAH BULLOCK STEPS UP FOR SOCO
Noah Bullock‘s heroics down the stretch proved vital for the Stallions in this one, and this is becoming a common theme throughout the season. The junior demonstrates poise and fantastic intangibles at the lead guard spot. Bullock knocked down two critical free throws in double overtime to ice the game.
BRUINS HIT 17 THREES, LED 5 FROM GRABLE
Six different players hit at least two three pointers for Lake Braddock in this contest. 2019 Sam Grable started off on fire, hitting four in the first quarter. He finished up with 24 points. Noah Dunn, the team’s leader in made threes this season, hit three of his own in this one. Quentin James also chipped in with three trey-balls.
STALLIONS ORCHESTRATE BALANCED ATTACK
South County had five players reach double figure scoring numbers in this contest, and this was no mistake. While they often found themselves coerced into quick shots, for the most part of the game they were able to stick to the game plan. Seth Dunn, Brandon Powe, and Cody Kellan combined for 29 points. Xavian Myles and Donovan Myles combined for 15.
