The 5 Best: Broken Arrow vs Southmoore
The Broken Arrow Tigers held off Southmoore winning 60-46. It was a game controlled by Broken Arrow from the start, but the Tigers hit the snooze button a few times throughout the game. See what players made our five best.
MVP: Josh Robinson 2018 Broken Arrow Wing
Robinson was the clear MVP of the game with his scoring of 22 points. He did an excellent job of using his 6’5 length to cause havoc for Southmoore. Transition is where Robinson dominated getting out on the fast break and finishing at the rim. Robinson found his jumper in the second half. He is a player whose stock is rising in the Oklahoma 2018 Class. Robinson will be a top ten ranked player in the updated rankings.
Offensive Player of the Game: Caleb Huffman 2018 Broken Arrow Guard
Huffman was great for Broken Arrow on the offensive end scoring a very consistent and efficient 11 points. Huffman did an excellent job of getting others involved. He was at his best attacking the rim to score the basketball. Huffman is a huge difference maker when he is playing efficiently on offense.
Defensive Player of the Game: Braden Boyer 2018 Broken Arrow Post (Signed to UAFS)
Boyer is the defensive player of the game as he manned the middle blocking and adjusting shots all game long. He is very unselfish on this team not demanding the ball on the offensive end and does a lot of the dirty work. One other area he dominated defensively was on the boards. The University of Arkansas Fort Smith got a good one.
Flash: Camryn Dennis 2019 Broken Arrow Guard
Dennis has the sauce. He is one of the flashiest players in the state of Oklahoma with a smooth tight handle that had Southmoore on the ropes. Dennis scored 13 points with a few ankle breakers and slam dunks. He seems to be a little taller and has a lot more bounce in his step. Dennis holds an NCAA Division I offer from Oral Roberts with more coming his way if he continues to improve.
Bright Spot: Southmoore has some talent
Southmoore had two players step up and play well against the top-ranked Broken Arrow Tigers. Shamar Hill, a senior Guard, scored 18 points followed by senior Post Jordan Lucas with 11. If Hill can continue to score the ball consistently from three-point range mixed in with some solid drives to the basket Southmoore will have an opportunity to win a lot of games. Lucas is a grind it out Forward in the paint that would be a perfect fit for an NAIA Division II program. What I love most is Lucas doesn’t have to have the ball to be effective on both ends of the floor.
