Recruiting Report: Andrew Niebuhr (2018)
Six-foot-11 senior post Andrew Niebuhr of Jordan talked to NHR today about the season and what college programs are interested in his ability.
“Everything this winter has been going pretty well,” Niebuhr said. “I’m doing everything I can to help my team win scoring, rebounding, blocking shots. So far in the season we are 12-4 and have lost some close games against some good teams. This is definitely the toughest schedule we have ever played and we have held our own.”
Maranatha Christian, Waconia, Marshall, Roosevelt, Mayer Lutheran, Kennedy and others, the Hubmen have set themselves up with several challenges.
Jordan has a talented young scorer in Ryan Samuelson who leads the team in scoring followed by Augustana signed Eric Tiedman. Both are in the area of 19-20 a game followed by Niebuhr who is the third double figure scoring option.
“This year a lot of things have opened up for me,” Andrew said. “I have gotten a lot more confidence and have started scoring a lot more and taking more outside shots. Over the summer and the past few years I have been getting a lot stronger.”
Jordan is 12-4 after a few losses but they are still the favorite in Section 2AA. Jordan and NRHEG are the favorites, Sibley East and Maple River having winning records, then the other dozen teams are varying levels of not so good.
Jordan has the talent to get to state, even though there are so many new guys playing for Jordan.
“This year I wasn’t really sure what the team was going to be like. We had a lot of kids graduate last year who played a big role. We had three kids return with major minutes.
“We didn’t have a lot of guard experience but so far they have done well and our record shows it. For other expectations I think that we will win the conference and our section and put a good state run on.
“My individual goals are to lead the team in rebounds and blocks and be Defensive Player of the Year in conference. Some team goals are to win conference and section and have a good state run.”
Five different programs are in contact with Andrew about college basketball.
“Valley City State, Waldorf, Rochester Community Technical college (RCTC),” Andrew said. “I have visited all of these. I am setting up a visit with St Ambrose in Iowa. I am setting up a visit with UW Stout.”
