Two Potential Suitors For Butler
The top ranked unsigned senior on the market in Wisconsin, Racine (Wis.) The Prairie School 2018 shooting guard J.C. Butler is beginning to narrow things down. Taking a close look at two schools, Butler hopes to sign this coming spring.
“It’s really just Texas A&M Corpus-Christi and UC-Irvine,” Butler told Prep Hoops.
Neither school has offered Butler to this point. In the midst of a monster campaign where he’s averaging 24.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, Buter may not be far from more opportunities.
With one scholarship available in their 2018 class, Corpus-Christi is looking to accelerate the process with Butler.
“We’ve just been talking for awhile for the past month or two,” said Butler. “They want to get me on campus. They stay in contact about my progress.”
The son of former NBA star Caron Butler, J.C. is intrigued by UC-Irvine, close to where his father resides.
“I’m trying to find out a date I can go visit there,” he said. “I like how close they are to my dad. He actually went to their campus for a visit.”
Butler has an offer from UW-Green Bay. However, the Phoenix have not sustained contact.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound senior said he’s not looking to go the prep route after this season. Instead, he’ll look to take official visits after the season and see where things stand.
“I’ll probably play out this season and see who offers,” he said. “Player development will be the most important thing.”
