Top Performers: Palm Beach County
Dante Moses, Inlet Groves
Well prior to the 2017-18 season, it was clear the 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard/forward would subscribe to the “Mr. Everything” role.
Being able to put the ball on the floor and dish, guarding from the 1-4, possessing a scorer’s mentality in all phases of his game, and registering an athletic presence on the boards, Moses has been wearing a lot of different jerseys for this Inlet Groves team.
This much was evident during Moses’ recent 35-point, 10-rebound, and five-assist performance. Moses has established a reliable 3-point shot. He displayed this last month, drilling five treys during a win over Cardinal Newman.
Lipscomb, UNC Asheville, and several other programs are beginning to inquire about the underrated 6-foot-4 guard with bouncy athleticism and sharpshooting acumen.
Cade Long, Boca Raton High School
The senior plays with a veteran savvy and is a calming influence with the rock in his hands. It’s resulted in a mentality his teammates seem to feed off of. Long is currently averaging 25.3 points per game. He’s definitely the source Boca will feed during heightened pressure.
Chris Kent, Cardinal Newman
With Scottie Barnes darting for a star spangled lineup in Fort Lauderdale at University School, Kent has been flushed into a more prominent role at Newman. During a recent 59-46 victory over The King’s Academy of West Palm Beach, Kent turned in a 20-point, nine board effort.
Emmanuel Onuama, Cardinal Newman
The 6-foot-8, 200-pound Center has been thriving as of late. A double double cyborg at times, Onuama put together a near triple double with 20 points, 20 boards, and nine blocks during a recent 59-46 win over TKA. A product of Wade AAU Elite, Onuama is a powerful above the rim and at the rim finisher. He’s got innate ability in terms of scoring around the rim.
Justin Brown, Atlantic High School
Brown was the force that helped Atlantic overcome a stagnant power outage in last week’s 41-40 thriller over previously undefeated Lake Worth. The bullish forward got to the rim with ease, drew fouls, and showed nary a trace of hesitance in getting inside the trenches to make plays.
Marques Spann, Lake Worth High School
High-motored combination guard can guard multiple positions. He’s got a knack for triggering Lake Worth’s souped up attack. He’s also methodical in scoring off the dribble and letting fly a feathery mid-range game. Spann’s hard playing, baseline to baseline style aligns with the style enforced with Japhet Medor orchestrating the offense.
