Farmville Central MLK Standouts Part 1
Goldsboro HS Senior Forward/Center Tyzhaun Claude: At 6’7 with a sold skillset, he gets your attention pretty early on. He blocks shots, rebounds the ball well and doesn’t look to try to do more than he is comfortable with. D2 programs should be on him as well as JC programs, although he is not a completely finished player development wise he is one that will only get better as time goes on.
Southern Vance HS Junior Guard Corey Baldwin: He has solid height at the guard spot and can play either position due to his ability to score and facility. Throughout the game he did a very good job of picking his spots and not forcing anything but instead made some good decisions and played solid defense to help his squad get out into transition for easy buckets.
Southern Vance HS Senior Guard Justus Baldwin: Programs that are looking for a guard that can score and defend at a solid rate should give Justus a call. He showed a nice skillset overall the last few times we have seen him play and he doesn’t back down from any challenges. One of the things that I respect the most about him is that he allows himself to be coached, which should translate well to the next level.
Farmville Central HS Senior Forward/Center Alvin Gizzard: He doesn’t necessarily pass the eye test when you first take a look at him but the production he brings for his squad on the court speaks for itself. It didn’t matter if he was rebounding the ball, posting up on the block or getting quick put backs under the rim, he was bigtime for his team.
Southern Vance HS Junior Guard Marcus Harrison: Marcus is a scoring machine!! If you watched him last year at the Farmville MLK day tournament then you would have known this already. This year he picked up right where he left off scoring the ball at a nice rate and converting difficult shot attempts. In my opinion his size is the only reason why he hasn’t picked up more interest and offers up to this point, he can go for 40 easily and is a nightmare to try and defend.
Farmville Central HS Freshman Guard Dontavious Short: His feel for the game is very mature for a player at such a young age. Throughout the day he did a solid job of handling pressure and getting the ball to his teammates in the right spots, also knocked down the outside shots at a nice rate
