Recruiting Report: Christian McLean (2018)
Coming in ranked at number 62 in Georgia’s 2018 class, Christian McLean is one of the more underrated players in the state. Currently averaging 22 points and 11 rebounds per game for the Wesleyan School, he has already eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career, but he is not yet satisfied. He says, “Right now the goal is to be better prepared for the state tournament. Being able to play the best basketball we possibly can and make improvements as we close out the regular season is our goal.”
The 6’3 guard can score at all three levels and has great length to defend multiple positions on the court, making him an asset to any team at the next level. Although his scoring and versatility attract coaches, it is his intangibles that pull them even closer. “I believe my ability to rebound at a high level and my determination to win the hustle plays can definitely change the course of a game,” says McLean.
Wesleyan head coach, Coach Adam Griffin, speaks high volumes of McLean. Griffin says, “Christian leads by example with his incredible worth ethic. He has continued to improve year after year, and the other guys in our program have seen his development and followed his path as best they can.”
After many impressive performances last summer with Inspire Atlanta AAU, McLean has been hearing from an array of colleges. “VMI, Western Carolina, Stetson, South Alabama, West Point and Hampden-Sydney are all interested,” he says. “I’m not sure when I’m going to make my decision, most likely sometime after the season.” Whichever college lands McLean will be getting a steal, along with a solid addition to their program.
