Prospect Spotlight: Christian Fields (2019)
Christian Fields is a junior forward from Madisonville-North Hopkins High School in Madisonville, KY. The Maroons are currently 13-5 and sit atop the 2nd Region rankings. “The season has been going pretty well thus far,” said Fields. Fields admits he’s been fighting off some injuries this year. “I started out the season hurt, the doctor said I had a torn hip labrum – but, it was a misdiagnosis. I hadn’t played in 2 months because the doctor said to stay off of it.”
Fields is hoping to help Madisonville-North Hopkins achieve some of the goals they’ve set forth from the beginning of the year. “Our goals and expectations for this season is district champs and region champs, I think we can win region if we really lock into everything. Some things we need to work on as a team to get there is our rebounding.”
Last summer saw Fields playing AAU basketball with Hoop Dreams. “The AAU season started out really good, and then my knee really started bothering me and that’s when I went to the doctor in July.”
Fields told Prep Hoops Kentucky that an aspect of his game that he feels is a strength is his shooting. “I feel like it helps me a lot because of my size. Not many wing players are 6’6 in high school.” He’s been working to improve getting quicker, “that’s something I feel like would really help me take me game to another level.”
In describing his game, Fields stated, “my game is more of a catch and shoot type of player, or a one dribble pull-up. I’m a long and lanky wing but I love crashing and getting the offensive rebounds and putting them back up. I feel like that’s where most of my points come from.”
The junior maintains a 3.5 GPA in the classrom and is a good student. “In a school and for a college basketball program, I’m looking for a coach that’s going to push me to be the best and just make me a better player and person overall.”
Fields currently doesn’t hold any offers, but he does have some schools showing interest. “I’ve received letters from NKU, UIC, and Georgetown College – and I’ve been invited to all of their elite camps.”
