- Natchitotches Central (17-2)
One of the best ways to find yourself with an easy road to the final four is to defend home court, and the Chiefs have done that as well as anyone this season. Neither of their only two losses have come while they were at home, and both losses have come against teams that are ranked in the top 15 in this ranking. Northwestern St. signee Brian White has been stellar so far this season, and it is nearly impossible to make him make a mistake.
- Sophie B. Wright (18-3)
The job that Coach Jason Bertrand has done of building a program since taking over the head coaching job at Sophie B. Wright in 2013. The year before he arrived, Wright went 8-18. Just 5 years later, Coach Bertrand has his team primed for a deep run in the state playoffs. He is helped by a trio of junior wings in Charlie Russell, Damiree Burns, and Greg Hammond, all of whom are capable of going for 30 any given night.
- Walker (18-2)
Walker is another team that is having one of it’s best years in recent memory. The headliner of their team is of course Jalen Cook, the top player in the state for 2020, but he has a ton of help by his sides. 2018 G Dalton Moore reached 1,000 career points earlier this season, and 2018 F Jalen Perkins has done a great job of improving year after year, and has a great shot at playing at the next level.
- Lafayette Christian (11-4)
When LCA is at their best, there are very few teams that can keep up with them, but so far in 2018, it has been a question as to which LCA is going to show up. They already have a pair of losses to Wossman and Carroll that should have been wins in the Ouachita Parish tournament, but they were also able to put a very talented Jehovah-Jireh team away down the stretch. If they aren’t able to put together a string of games down the stretch, their state title last season might be staying as the team’s lone state title.
- Carencro (16-5)
Carencro has played one of the toughest schedule’s in the state this season, and it has come in handy so far, as Carencro is currently at the top of 4A in power rankings, but the tough part is just starting. They are in one of the toughest districts in Louisiana, sharing a district with two other teams in the top 25 (St. Thomas More and Westgate) as well as an underrated Northside squad that will make some noise down the stretch of this season. Every night is going to be a battle, and if they are able to come out on top, they should have home court advantage through the playoffs.
