Top TN Performers from Music City MLK Classic
Sadly, almost all of the Tennessee-based teams dropped out of the Music City MLK Classic this weekend.
No Cordova. No Stratford, Oakland, Blackman, etc.
Between Saturday and Sunday the only Tennessee participants were MBA, Ensworth, and Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (HHCA).
These were the best performers from that trio.
2018 C Uros Plavsic (HHCA)
Uros is verbally committed to Cleveland State. The center looks more and more like a high-major player every couple weeks. He rapidly develops the toughness needed to collect rebounds. Sunday the Serbian captured 13 rebounds in 23 minutes.
2019 G Jordan Rawls (HHCA)
Starting point guard Jordan Rawls made just 40% of his shots, but he did lead all scorers with 19 points. His four assists and four turnovers were also game highs. Rawls shot 3-8 from deep in the win.
2019 G Wheza Panzo (HHCA)
Traditionally a stat stuffer, Panzo focused on slashing against Our Savior New American. The 6-foot-6 wing pulled down eight rebounds and dished out three assists. His outside shooting is a trademark, but Panzo admitted he wants to round out his skillset.
2020 G Samson Ruzhentsev (HHCA)
Ruzhentsev plays with an uncommon fearlessness. Already proven to be a marksman, Samson attacked the paint several times with success. Ruzhentsev scored 11 points and four of his five made field goals occurred in close against a long and lean frontline.
208 G Yannick LeGuenne (HHCA)
He played just ten minutes, but the frenchman buried three important three-pointers. They helped HHCA pull away from Our Savior New American in the fourth quarter.
2020 F Keshawn Lawrence (Ensworth)
Sophomore Keshawn Lawrence matched WCA’s fantastically gifted guards athletically. The football star gave WCA fits on the glass. Lawrence picked up two of the Tiger’s five offensive rebounds and lead the team with 14 points.
2019 G Keyshawn Collier (Ensworth)
For Ensworth, Keyshawn Collier provided some shooting. Wesleyan Christian Academy ran out some tough, sizable defenders. Collier’s outside shooting was important. He scored 12 points.
2018 F Alexander Roberts (MBA)
Six steals came from the hands of Alexander Roberts. The eight rebounds he tugged away were huge.
2018 G Drew Weikert (MBA)
MBA needs perimeter defense and poise from their starting point guard, Drew Weikert. Saturday he provided both. Weikert finished with four steals and five assists.

2018 G Will Nutter (MBA)
Senior scorer Will Nutter missed all four of his triples. He did score 10 points though, which carries significant weight in a 50-point game. Nutter’s six rebounds were disturbing. Nutter gave four assists in MBA’s win.
2018 F Thomas Carr (MBA)
The senior Carr scored 11 points (5-9 FG’s) in a low-scoring win. He routinely gives the Big Red scoring prowess.
