Class of 2019 Debutants: Part II
The junior class boasts a deep wing faction. With strong Novembers and/or Decembers the following members of the Class of 2019 landed top 100 in Tennessee.
This list represent half of the newly included junior stars.
Rashaad Thompson (Riverdale)
Thompson (pictured below) gripped our attention during the Wolverine Classic mid-December. Thompson’s greatest attribute is first-step quickness. Tennessee Volunteer starter Jordan Bone carved out a HM offer from a very similar skillset. Can Thompson add Bone’s grit?
Maliek McAllister (Riverdale)
Built like a football starter, McAllister proved he can hit outside shots and possibly operate as a college shooting guard in time.
Kendall Young (Father Ryan)Jared Ward (White House)
For the guard-driven White House basketball squad, Jared Ward shines as the brightest star in their sparkling sky. He can dribble, shoot, or pass.
Carson Cary (Columbia Academy)
Columbia Academy Bulldog guard Carson Cary provides CA with scoring and leadership. The sharpshooter kept his team in an early season clash with Goodpasture.
Jaylen Negron (West Creek)
Last week wing Jaylen Negron recorded his career-high of 30 points against Garrard County (KY). The spring/summer of AAU will be paramount for Negron gaining the deserved college attention.
Justin Headrick (Stone Memorial)
Forward Justin Headrick earned Player of the Week nominations multiple times in December. With his height and skillset Headrick looks like a LM-MM prospect.
William Shaw (Pearl Cohn)
Quickness belongs in William Shaw’s Instagram profile. It provides the backbone for the scoring guard’s entire game. Tennessee State and a couple other D1 programs are intrigued and contacting Shaw.
Kendall Young (Father Ryan)
Father Ryan plays a special breed of basketball. With the Fightin’ Irish, Kendall Young is enduring an offensive masterclass. Where he needs to improve is in aggression and slashing. Young’s future success requires better handles and creativity as he attacks. Young can get there with small offensive tinkering.
Thomasi Gilgeous-Alexander (Hamilton Heights Christian Academy)
The younger brother of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (UK freshman), Thomasi is coming off the bench for HHCA. Considering his limited minutes with HHCA recently he needs a big AAU season to catch college attention.
