Notable Performances : Charger Classic
Drue Drinnon, University School
The 6-foot, New Mexico-signee played an integral role in leading University School when Scottie Barnes exited the game with an injury against Dwyer.
Drinnon’s boundless defensive energy, all around scoring, and late-game poise enabled the nation’s No.3 ranked team to stave off a tough Dwyer team hell-bent on a massive upset.
Drinnon’s calming influence on the floor helped University School overcome an 11-0 first quarter deficit. His game management skill set and scoring triggered a 17-3 first half spurt.
Miles Coleman, Dwyer
A game against a No.3 ranked national power of University School’s caliber presented Coleman with a golden opportunity to prove himself as an unheralded and underrecruited prospect.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Class of 2018 guard embraced the challenge. With high level and deep 3-point shooting ability and a pull-up game, Coleman got Dwyer’s upset bid jump-started with 13 first half points.
It was Coleman’s play that ignited Dwyer early on and gave University School an early gut punch with an 11-0 first quarter lead.
Jimmy Beane, Potter’s House
The 6-foot-4 guard possesses a unique trait with his high-rising and high-arching jumper.
Beane is equally adept at using his strength and body to take smaller defenders to the rim and adjusting his shot under pressure.
Playing instinctively and producing in the open court with ease, Beane has the essential attributes to be an effective mid-major player.
Tylor Miller, Santaluces
As the 6-foot-4 guard showed in Friday’s matchup, he’s one of the more underrated players in Palm Beach County.
Miller has sneaky and explosive bounce along with an active awareness on the defensive end.
Jay Meador, Lake Worth
It was hard to gauge just how effective Meador was at quarterbacking a team last season. That’s because as a junior at Wellington High, Meador played behind one of the state’s top-tier talents in high-scoring guard Trent Frazier (now at Illinois).
With a 26-point performance during a win over Dr. Phillips of Orlando, Meador displayed an advanced scoring aptitude and a savvy in enforcing Lake Worth’s frenetic attack.
Lahat Thioune,Florida Prep
The 7-foot Center is a menacing shot blocker with spurts of high-level athleticism few bigs his size are capable of. Thione is hardest to guard when he puts forth a feathery baby hook and oje handed shots.
