Tyree and Treavon Martin to Tennessee State
Big news late on Thursday night as two of the top available post prospects in the state came off the board. Curie 2018 brothers Tyree Martin and Treavon Martin committed to Tennessee State. Tyree told us why they were the choice for the duo.
“We just feel like it was the best fit for us. Feel like the OVC conference is a good fit to improve and showcase our game. We loved the hospitality and the organization on the visit. Like the coaching staff. Like their style of play. And overall we feel like that’s what is best for the both of our careers.”
What you have to like about this pick up is what the 6’8” duo brings on the interior defensively. Their defense is ahead of their offense at this stage. Each has shown in stretches the ability to take over a game with their rebounding and shot blocking. Long and lanky frames allow them to snatch rebounds at their highest point and be rim protectors defensively. Offensively they each have developmental upside as they have flashed the potential to improve in that area at the collegiate level.
Really good pick up for Head Coach Dana Ford who has recruited Illinois hard over the years. The Martin brothers will join Morgan Park’s Kenyon Duling who is also headed to TSU.
Both Martin brothers played for Team Rose on the travel team circuit. They are ranked #25 and #26 overall currently in 2018 and the #3 and #4 power forwards in the class.
