Prospect Spotlight: Ahke McMichael (2019)
2019 Pinellas Park guard Ahke McMichael is an emerging playmaker.
On Dec. 14, he scored a team-best 26 points including 15 in the first half and four 3’s throughout in a loss to St. Pete.
The 5’9″, 140-pounder is a pure speedster. He was at Pinellas Park as a freshman playing JV ball and then he went to Largo because his brother was there as well.
He’s now back with the Patriots where he has lofty goals of being a top-five scorer in Pinellas County and be selected to the All-County team. Playing JV as a sophomore, he says he learned to become more aggressive and score more often a year ago.
This summer, McMichael played for Team Under Pressure and The Basketball Warehouse. He made the move to the Warehouse where he plans to go back to next year.
No offers or interest have come yet for the undersized guard.
He alluded to his ball handling and scoring ability as his biggest strengths. McMichael wants to improve his defense and get stronger all-around.
Settling in as the top scorer and offensive chess piece for Pinellas Park, McMichael is learning endless lessons in his junior season. Teams have hard times slowing him down. If he can add some height and weight, he should be able to generate college interest. He’s a really sound player.
