Midseason Cobb POY Nominees Part 4
Here a few kids who made the Midseason Cobb County, GA player of the year list for public schools only.
2020 PG Sharife Cooper – McEachern High School
Sharife Cooper is a future McDonalds All American in my opinion. After his fabulous performance at the loaded City of Palms Classic, where he averaged 27 points per game, he is no doubt on the national radar if he was not already. Sharife is the engine the McEachern offense when he is on the floor. He is a Chris Paul 2.0, with his abilities to finish in the lane and beat defenders with his head fakes and quickness. Sharife is ranked 4th in Cobb County in scoring at 19.9 points per game.
2018 WG Kiya Randolph – Campbell High School
Randolph has improved his game from last season and is having a fantastic senior year so far. The senior wing has been the leader of this year’s team with his varisty experience. Kiya makes his main impact on the defensive end of the floor. The Campbell Spartans are the best balanced scoring team in Cobb County. Randolph has three 20+ point games this season and coming off his 28 point performance in the 1st Annual Big South Shootout that was hosted at Duluth High School.
2018 CG DJ Murray – Pebblebrook High School
One of the most underrated guards in the state of Georgia is 2018 CG DJ Murray. DJ had a incredible summer running with Nike South Beach in the EYBL circuit and his game has sky rocketed. Murray is no doubt one of Pebblebrook’s leaders this year along with his running mate 2018 WG Mervin James. He is one of our top shooters in Cobb County and is a physical defender. Murray can also score and create his own shot off the dribble like many of the other Pebblebrook guards. DJ already has him a few college interested and will definitely be playing at the next level next year.
2019 F Kevin Hester – North Cobb High School
Other than 2018 C EJ Montgomery of Wheeler, Kevin Hester is second in double doubles this season in Cobb County. Hester’s game has really emerged this season as he is a major force in the paint. He is a big bodied 6’5 forward and is one of the reasons North Cobb is in the position they are in so far. Kevin is averaging 16 points per game and 13.2 rebounds a game. He also makes his presents on the defensive end averaging at least 2 to 3 blocks per game.
2019 PG Orry Owens – Hillgrvove High School
One of the emerging star this season is Orry Owens of Hillgrove High School. Orry is a 5’9 PG and can get pass defenders and into the lane with his quickness. He is also able to hit the mid range jump shot once he gets to his spots. Owens has this seasons Hillgrove squad on his shoulders. Orry is averaging about 15 points per game so far.

2018 F Blaine McDonough – Walton High School
Like his twin brother 2018 F Pat McDonough, Blaine is having a good senior season for Walton. He is another one the surprising kids that made our Midseason Cobb County player of the year list. Blaine is recently coming off his 40 point performance against Lambert over the holiday break. The McDonough twins are one of the leaders of this seasons Walton team. Like Campbell the Raiders are one of the best balanced scoring teams. Blaine has already had three 20+ point performances this year.
