In the second game of the Manual Extravaganza, Gary West upended Indianapolis Homeschool in a tough battle, 72-61. Homeschool tried to come back but every time they were thwarted with a Gary West run of their own. Noah Shook of Homeschool and Teionte Mitchell of Gary West led the way with 18 points each.
Gary West
Teionte Mitchell – 6’2 SG 2018 – Gary West
Mitchell is a solidly built guard who likes to drive the ball and get to the rim. He draws a ton of contact and even then, still finishes through it. Mitchell is a tough nosed player as well getting on the floor for every loose ball and even diving for a few in this game. He rebounds the ball well crashing from the wing with his good court vision. A good player on this Gary West team. – 18 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists
Jaylin Hughes – 5’11 SG 2018 – Gary West
Hughes was the starting lead guard in this one but is probably better suited to play off the ball. He needs to work on his ball handling if he wants to stay on the ball but he is a pretty willing passer who can move the ball up the floor quickly. He kept his head up and looking to make a pass to an open teammate the entire game. A solid guard for Gary West who still has some things to improve. – 14 points, 2 assists
Emmanuel Calhoun – 5’11 SG 2019 – Gary West
Calhoun is a guard who likes to shoot it from deep and can do so pretty well. He made a few in this game but also put the ball on the floor and got to the rim. He plays at all three levels pretty well and never stops moving. He has a pretty vast knowledge of the game as you saw him making cuts and moving to the spots on the court where he could make a play. A solid junior who could get some small school interest with time. – 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals
Quimari Peterson – 5’10 PG 2021 – Gary West
Peterson is a very good freshman that comes off the bench for Gary and after he came off the bench he played a lot the rest of the game. He’s a filled-out kid who is able to make plays and get to the rim. He has a good looking outside shot and knocked a few down in this game. He is a super interesting prospect because if he gets better with ball handling and passing he could be a top player in the freshman class in Indiana. – 12 points, 5 rebounds
Indianapolis Homeschool
Myles Johnson – 6’5 SF 2019 – Indianapolis Homeschool
Johnson is a guy I have seen a few times this year and every time he gets a little better and better. He is a guy that will look for his shot, too aggressively at times, but also can distribute the ball around to his teammates. Has a decent three-point shot than he can bury as well as the ability to get to the rim and finish due to his length. Is still pretty raw and will get better with more coaching as he looks to make plays. – 15 points, 2 blocks
Mitchell Wirts – 6’4 PF 2020 – Indianapolis Homeschool
Wirts is a guy who doesn’t seem like he would be a good basketball player, but over the course of the game he makes enough plays that he contributes a lot to the team. He is more athletic than he comes off to be and really puts himself in position to get a lot of easy points when the defense breaks down. He is strong with the ball when it comes off the boards too. Small school guy who could be a solid player once he puts together a threatening outside game. – 4 points
Noah Shook – 5’10 SG 2020 – Indianapolis Homeschool
Shook is a smaller guard who does really well with the catch-and-shoot from deep. He is able to catch and fire it off pretty quickly and once he gets going it’s pretty hard to stop him. He has the ability to pump fake and dribble over so that you aren’t able to just run at him to make him back off the shot. Made four threes in the game. – 18 points, 4 rebounds
