Palmetto State : Region 6-A Predictions
Region play is upon us this coming week here in the frigid Palmetto State. Prep Hoops takes a look at Region 6-A in this article and predictions for the season.
The Hemingway HS Tigers are still the top dog in this region. The Tigers did go 0-3 recently at the Pepsi Carolina Classic at West Florence HS. The Tigers lost to Marion (50-48), South Florence (65-61) and Trinity Byrnes (72-71). The Tigers now 6-5 on the season loss two earlier games this season to rival Carvers Bay HS.
The Tigers have extremely well balanced scoring with point guard Darius Taylor (2019) leading the way at 11.6 ppg and 7.9 assists. Darius “JuJu” Williams (2019) a undersized left-handed post players averages 10.2 ppg and 11 rebound. Taylor and Williams also both excel on the gridiron for the Tigers. Taylor had 11 interceptions this season as a defensive back. Williams received a football offer from Chattanooga recently according to Tigers Head Coach Emmanuel Dewalt. Williams recorded 110 tackles this season.
Tyrike Lewis (2018) comes in at 9.2 ppg and 4.9 rebounds a night. Troy Singletary (2018) played quarterback on the football team. Singletary 5’9 rushed for 1,054 yards and 16 touchdowns while throwing for 1,740 passing yards and 26 touchdowns.
Aaron Parker (2020) plays combo guard for the Tigers. Parker can really shoot the ball on the perimeter for the Tigers. Parker is averaging 9.7 ppg this season heading into region play.
Kobe Praylow (2018) will look to lead the Hannah-Pamplico Red Raiders into region play. Praylow averaged over 21.7 ppg last season. Praylow played football this season for the first time and really had a great season. Praylow rushed for 1,334 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. Praylow has received some NCAA D2-D3 football interest and has expressed interest in playing football maybe in college.
Shaquille Johnson (2018) plays at Green Sea Floyds HS. The school is along the South Carolina-North Carolina border out in Horry County. Johnson scored 41 points on 20-28 from the floor in a game vs Marlboro Academy that Prep Hoops took in last month.
Johnson a physical specimen was dismissed from the football team half way through the season. Johnson 6’3 is a very athletic kid that plays wide receiver on the gridiron. Johnson will more than likely need to entertain junior college options and is open to both sports in college he told Prep Hoops.
TJ Fladger (2018) will look to get the Creek Bridge Warriors to the playoffs this season. The Warriors will battle East Clarendon and Lake View HS.
Predictions : Hemingway, Hannah-Pamplico, Green Sea-Floyds, Creek Bridge, East Clarendon and Lake View HS
