Player of the Week: Spencer Hoff (Week 3)
SPENCER HOFF (2019)
6’2 G, Janesville
After accumulating more than half of the nearly 3,700 total votes cast last week, one thing is clear; Janesville junior Spencer Hoff is as popular as he is effective on the floor.
For three seasons now Hoff has been a standout with the Wildcats, and he’s well on his way to certainly becoming one of the all-time greats to ever play at the school. And at 6’2 with a diverse set of skills, he could very well further his hoops career at the next level when he’s done torching the comp for Janesville.
Last week, Hoff’s versatile skill-set was on full display when he averaged 16.3 points, 7.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 4.3 steals in three games.
His success on the floor this season comes as no surprise. Hoff was sensational last season as a sophomore, averaging 17.5 points and 4.8 assists per game — good enough to gab our attention and land him at No. 112 in Iowa’s 2019 prospect rankings.
Before his career is said and done, and so long as he can stay healthy, Hoff has a chance to become a 1,000 point scorer for the Wildcats. And with the top three scorers this season all juniors, Hoff and Co. have a shot to not only finish this season strong, but be very good next season.
PS: Hoff is as versatile on the gridiron as he is on the hardwood. As a junior with the Wildcats, he caught 30 passes for 734 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaged 6.1 yards per carry as a rusher and four more TDs, and even threw for two touchdowns as a quarterback.
