Best Unsigned Senior
SF Drew Peterson (Libertyville)
Peterson is not only the top uncommitted senior in this event, but the entire state. The #6 prospect overall in the 2018 class has been living up to that billing early in the season with his high scoring games. Plus shooter with size at 6’7” and is an underrated athlete. If he can knock off Fremd look for Peterson to make a run at the MVP of this event. Mid-major schools will be keeping close tabs on him.
Top Prospect
SF Bryant Brown (Waukegan)
Brown is also posting big numbers this season. The #5 2019 prospect in the state is an athletic combo forward that uses his quickness and athleticism to score around the rim. Plus rebounder. College coaches will be looking closely at how his perimeter skill is improving. Mid-major prospect.
Most Intriguing Young Prospect
C Brandon Lieb (Deerfield)
Lieb is a skilled center with size and the ability to score on the block. He runs the floor well and has the mobility to block shots. One of the more intriguing big men in the 2020 class.
Most to Gain at Tournament
PF Dusan Mahorcic (Niles Notre Dame)
Mahorcic is still in search of a scholarship offer at the D2 level. The 6’8” post deserves serious consideration at that level as he is still learning the game and already has impressive skills on the block. Had one of the best single games of the season earlier this month.
Final Four Picks and Champion
Niles North is the pick here. Dravon Clayborn and Damaria Franklin bring a senior 1-2 punch in the backcourt that can score in bunches. They have tremendous depth, length, and defense to win four games at Wheeling.
