Best Unsigned Senior
C Jalen Shaw (Larkin)
Shaw is having a big senior campaign. The top available post in the state has great size and can really score on the low block. Improved his mobility and is a force on the defensive end blocking shots. Mid-major talent that JUCO’s should also be tracking.
Top Prospect
PG DJ Steward (Fenwick)
Steward is an elite young point guard and the #2 overall prospect in the 2020 class. He is a smooth lead guard that can score effectively at all three levels. The Fenwick point guard is a must watch player and the best prospect in this event.
Most Intriguing Young Prospect
PG Tyler Beard and Elliot Sieger (Whitney Young)
Both of these top 10 prospects in the 2020 class haven’t played much this year for various reasons. We are hoping both will be on the floor at Proviso. They each bring scoring, shooting, and the ability to dish the rock to the table. Mid-major plus prospects with the chance to elevate to high-major.
Most to Gain at Tournament
PF Raekwon Drake (Orr)
Drake played one really bad game at Team Rose Shootout and then was completely unstoppable when we saw him at the Ramey Shootout. If Drake can post a dominant week at Proviso his stock could soar! He is a physical 6’5” power forward that plays with a high motor and finishes with force around the rim. Beast on the glass. Potential to move into mid-major territory with a strong performance over the holidays.
Final Four Picks and Champion
Very good field of teams at Proviso, but we are going to go with Orr as our pick to click and win the championship. This is their first year in the event and they have something to prove. Everyone knows they are going to win the 2A title in March so winning this tournament against a loaded field might mean even more to them.
Orr (Champion)
Whitney Young
