Recruiting Report: Caleb Johnson (2018)
2018 guard Caleb Johnson is the heart and soul of Central High.
The 5’11”, 165-pounder helped the Bears upset an undefeated Nature Coast team in the Class 6A-District 7 championship last year. Central advanced to the region semifinal before losing to Nature Coast.
It marked the first district title in 20 years for the program. Johnson says he learned that staying together as a team from start to finish goes a long way.
“My expectations for this upcoming year is to go as far as possible in the state finals,” Johnson told Prep Hoops Florida.
No offers have come yet for the two-guard, but he’s drawn interest from Bacone College, Colby Sawyer College and King’s College.
Johnson says his speed and quickness has improved since last season. He’s aiming to be better on defense by locking down the opponent’s best player.
Earning a 3.3 GPA this semester, Johnson has plans to study to become a physical therapist in college.
First, he’ll get his chance to showcase his skills on the court. Johnson is a playmaker whether he’s shooting or passing. His drive to the basket goes a long way for Central. He’ll earn an offer soon enough and that should come from his solid performances.
