Breaking: Chaminade added to Midwest Showdown Shootout
This weekend’s Midwest Showdown Shootout at Webster Groves just received another boost with the addition of Class 5 state powerhouse Chaminade to the lineup.
Chaminade will take on Vashon in the final game of the six-game event in a showdown between two of the top programs in the state. Tip off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
Vashon was originally scheduled to face Chicago Morgan Park, but they were a late scratch from the Shootout. Event director Terrell Ramey was able to bring in Chaminade, which had an open date to fill in the void, thus adding more spice to an already attractive event.
Chaminade has advanced to the Final Four of the Class 5 state tournament the past three years, including a state championship 2016. The Red Devils are led by 6’7″ 2018 forward Jericole Hellems, who has signed with North Carolina State. Vashon has won the last two Class 4 state championships. The Wolverines are a young and talented team that is led by dynamic 2019 guard Mario McKinney.
The schedule for the rest of the event is as follows:
Harrisburg (Mo). vs. Madison (IL), 1 p.m.
Parkway Central vs. Romeoville (IL), 2:30 p.m.
Cardinal Ritter vs. Bloomington (IL), 4 p.m.
Hazelwood Central vs. Chicago Orr, 5:30 p.m.
Webster Groves vs. Fern Creek (KY), 7 p.m.
