Standouts: Windermere Prep Shootout
Windermere Preparatory School is one of the nicest prep schools in the country not just in the state of Florida.
On Saturday, six games were played at the school in the Windermere Prep Shootout.
There were some really close matchups and a few that were rather one-sided. Here is a look at the standouts from the day.
Seth Coleman (Holy Trinity)
Junior forward Seth Coleman was the high scorer on the day with 34 points. He played strong for Holy Trinity and fed well of senior point guard Brandon Schwab. Coleman is noticeably bigger in his upper body and he looked like a running back in football the way he went up and down the floor on the break. The Tigers are a sound unit.
Malachi Wideman (Riverview)
With Tyrus Jackson out with an ankle injury, sophomore forward Malachi Wideman did everything and more for the Rams. He added 30 points in a 74-67 loss to Holy Trinity. Wideman made huge jump shots, went inside for dunks and attacks. He took complete control of the offense and commanded double teams. Wideman is just hitting his stride.
Lahat Thioune (Florida Prep)
Lahat Thiuone played really well for Florida Prep with a game-high 27 points. The senior big man is generating Division I offers as of late including New Mexico seven days ago. Thiuone is a 6’11” forward who had 13 points in the fourth quarter alone.
KJ Simon (West Orange)
Senior guard KJ Simon showed off his top-end passing on the way to 17 points for West Orange in a loss to Tampa Catholic. Simon set up his offense a ton and battled through a couple injuries. The Troy commit is really smooth running the floor.
Tim Carter/Kobe Knox (Tampa Catholic)
Tampa Catholic slipped past West Orange 86-81 behind 15 points from sophomore Kobe Knox and 13 points from Tim Carter. Carter and the guards played well for Tampa Catholic as it went up and down the floor with ease. Knox had four 3’s and flashed his confidence from outside.
Tyrieke Blakeney/Tyrell Jones (West Oaks)
West Oaks dominated First Academy in a 76-32 blowout win. The Flame earned 20 points from junior guard Tyrieke Blakeney and 16 points from junior guard Tyrell Jones. Blakeney went inside for layups and Jones connected from outside. West Oaks continues its hot streak.
Blake Stillwell/Rahsaan Lewis (Windermere Prep)
Both Rahsaan Lewis and Blake Stillwell had 19 points in an 82-70 loss to Florida Prep. Lewis can weave through defenses with his pure athleticism. The senior is destined to play football at the next level like his father Ray Lewis. As for Stillwell, the sophomore continues to get better. He made some tough buckets for his group.
Dejuon Small/AJ Johnson (Florida Prep)
The dynamic senior guard duo seems to always show up for the Falcons when needed most. Dejuon Small had 22 points, going to the rack often in transition while AJ Johnson recorded 15 points of his own against host Windermere Prep. The two guards are fan favorites and they are a huge reason why Florida Prep continues to be a dominant program.
Keon Buckley (Lakewood Ranch)
Senior forward Jack Kelley finished as the top scorer for the Mustangs with 16 points, but it was sophomore guard Keon Buckley that did the heavy lifting. With senior guard Damien Gordon inactive, Buckley commanded the offense and produced 14 points along the way. The speedy guard is growing up quickly.
Ahren Freeman/Will Erickson (Providence)
The Stallions were outlasted by a solid Lakewood Ranch group 71-62, but top starters Ahren Freeman and Will Erickson did their best to keep it close. Both players had 17 points for Providence. Freeman had a slow start, but the junior forward got it going in the second half attacking often. Erickson, a senior paced the offense and kept heading in the paint.
